[Tasting Note]

"아름답게 익은 슈퍼 투스칸'

정향, 삼나무향, 흙내음, 담뱃잎의 짙은 숙성향 사이로 분명하게 느껴지는 짱짱한 체리와 붉은 과실의 향! 26년의 기간 동안 아름답게 익었다. 그러나 더 이상의 숙성은 힘들 것 같다.

이탈리아 토스카나에 있는 Casa Brancaia는 1981년 스위스인 Widmer 부부가 토스카나에 방문한 뒤 와인에 반하여 버려져있던 브란카이아 와이너리를 인수하여 설립한 브랜드이다. 최초 Chianti Classico DOCG내 Brancaia 밭을 시작으로 Poppi, Maremma 밭을 차례로 인수하여 성장하였다.

설립 2년 만인 1983년 Chianti Classico 시음회에서 최고의 평가를 받으며 신성같이 등장한 와이너리이다. 이후 출시되는 하위 Cuvee 들도 평론가들에게 높은 점수를 받으며 주목받기 시작하였다.

1998년부터 창립자의 딸인 Barbara Widmer가 양조를 책임지고 있으며 Italy 최고의 와인 메이커이자 Brunello di Montalcino의 왕 Giodo의 양조가 Carlo Ferrini의 컨설팅으로 현재는 Toscana의 iconic 한 와이너리로 자리매김하였다.

La Brancaia의 최고봉은 단연 Il Blu라고 할 수 있으며 Merlot과 Sangioves를 중심으로 flagship의 퀄리티와 위엄을 유지하고 있다.

이 외에는 Carbernet Sauvignon 등 Bordeaux Blend의 "Ilatraia" / "Chianti Classico" series / Carbernet Sauvignon 100%의 "No.2" / 3개의 밭에서 나는 포도를 블랜딩 한 "Tre"를 중심으로 white & rose 등도 생산하고 있다.

"Beautifully aged SUPER TUSCAN"

Dried cherry and raspberry note layered by earthiness and sweet spices. It still has a dignity as a flagship cuvee of Brancaia winery. Beautifully aged. Smooth and silky. So much complexity. Drink now, not suitable for further aging.
