이 돈이면 샴페인으로 간다!

국내에서 클라우디베이의 명성 때문인지 항상 클라우디 베이는 가격대가 높게 형성되어있다. 물론 그들이 보여주는 스틸와인에서 퀄리티는 매우 훌륭한 수준이다. 그러한 기대감에 몇년 전 처음으로 전통방식(Traditional Method)으로 만든 스파클링 와인인 'Pelorus'를 구입해봤다. 신대륙 출신의 전통방식으로 만든 스파클링은 결국 지향점도 샴페인이고 평가잣대도 샴페인일 수 밖에 없다. 그런 관점으로 클라우디 베이를 마셔봤다.

시각적으로는 섬세한 버블이 올라오는 것이 샴페인을 연상시킨다. 코에서는 흰 꽃향이 살짝 느껴지면서, 레몬, 청사과, 배향과 약간의 빵굽는 향이 살짝 지나가는데 확실히 가벼운 느낌이다. 마시면서 블랜딩 비율이 궁금해졌는데 이유는 무게감이 부족하고 향에서 플로럴 한 향이 느껴져 혹시나 블랑드블랑은 아닐까? 하는 생각이 들었다. 그럼에도 프랑스놈들의 그것보다는 확실히 가볍고 편한 느낌이었다. 가격은 유명 샴페인 하우스 NV 가격대인데 조금은 아쉽다는 생각도 든다. 라벨을 보고 마셔서 그런지 모르겠으나 나중에 전통방식의 스파클링들을 블라인드 해보고 싶은 생각도 들었다. 결국 와인에 대한 개인적 취향은 라벨을 가렸을 때 정확하게 알 수 있으니깐...

Perhaps because of Cloudy Bay's reputation in this country, Claudie Bay is always highly priced. Of course, the quality of the wine they show us is very good. With this expectation, I bought the sparkling wine "Pelorus" made by Traditional Method. Sparkling, which was made in a traditional way from the New World, is aimed at champagne, and taster should compare it to Champagne. From that point of view, I tried this wine.
Visually, a delicate bubble comes up and reminds me of Champagne. I can feel the nose of white flowers, lemon, green apple, and a hint of brioche. It certainly feels lighter than usual Champagne. I was concerned about the grape variety blending ratio. Because it is not full bodied but sophisticated and I can feel the nose of flowers. It is certainly lighter and more easy than the French ones. The price is within the price range of the famous C     hampagne house NV, but I feel a little disappointed. "Maybe it was because I saw the label and drank it, but I also wanted to blind the traditional sparkling style later." In the end, your personal preference for wine is known exactly when you hide the label.
