[Tasting note]

묵직하고 파워풀하지만 섬세함은 부족한...

진한 가넷색의 와인이다. 첫인상은 발사믹 식초같은 휘발성산으로 이탈리아와인임을 보여주고 있다. 그 뒤로 농축되고 진한 검은체리, 검은딸기가 약간은 과숙된 느낌으로 있다. 알콜 열감이 코에서도 살짝 느껴지고 이는 오크와 과일의 달콤함과 함께하여 감초같은 뉘앙스를 준다. 이후 약간의 새콤 쌉싸름한 오렌지필의 시트러스 껍질의 느낌과 젖은흙향이 이어진다. 입에서는 풀바디의 묵직한 와인으로 산도는 높지는 않으나 무거운 와인에 어느정도 신선함을 부여하고 있고, 탄닌은 아주 잘 녹아 촘촘하고 부드럽게 조이면서 실크의 질감을 선사한다. 피니쉬는 길게 이어진다. 시칠리아 와인임을 몰랐다면 좋은 와인으로 생각했을 것 같으나 과거에 경험한 Nerello Mascalese는 더 서늘한 느낌을 주면서 화사하고 섬세한 매력이 있는 와인이였다. 더운 빈티지 때문인지 이 와인은 너무 무겁고 굵직하게 만들어진 것이 아닌가 생각이 든다. 

It's massive and powerful, but it lacks delicacy...

It is a deep garnet wine. The first impression is a volatile acid like balsamic vinegar, indicating that it is Italian wine. After that, the concentrated and a little overripe dark black cherry and brumble comes in. There is a little bit of alcohol heat at the nose, and along with the sweetness of oak and fruit, it feels like licorice. It is followed by a slightly sour and bitter orange peel and a wet earth note. It is a full-bodied, big bold wine with some acidity which is not that high but enough to give some freshness not to be flat, and the tannin integrated very well and gives it a silky fine-grainy texture. The finish lasts long. If I didn't know it was Sicilian wine, I might have though that it is a good wine, but the Nerello Mascale I've experienced in the past gave me a cooler nuance and had a gorgeous and delicacy. Perhaps because of the hot vintage, this wine is too heavy for me.
